La notizia circolava già da un mesetto: Lily Allen cercava alcune ballerine che facessero un po' di twerking nel video del suo nuovo singolo 'Hard Out There'. Il brano è il primo inedito della cantante inglese dal 2009, anche se il ritorno sulla scena musicale l'aveva già fatto duettando sulle note di 'True love' insieme alla cantante P!nk.

Sia il testo che il video della canzone sono un j'accuse alla misoginia e al sessismo nella cultura pop. In particolare prende in giro 'Blurred Lines' di Robin Thicke, in cui una donna balla davanti alle parole 'Robin Thicke has a big dick' ('Robin Thicke ha un pene grande'), che qui diventa 'Lily Allen has a baggy pussy' ('Lily Allen ha una vagina larga').

Il video inizia con un bel parental advisory explicit content e Lily Allen sdraiata su un lettino che si sottopone a un liposuzione. I medici molto poco gentilmente le dicono che si è lasciata andare con il parto dei due figli. E poi inizia il twerking a tutto spiano - ma qui ci sono ballerine con culi da sballo, non quello rachitico di Miley Cyrus - in antitesi con il testo che dice "Non ho bisogno di scuotere il culo per voi, perché ho un cervello".
